I folded down the rear seats and put the snow tires in the back. It’s going in the shop Monday to have the brake pads checked and tires swapped

I don’t have a car anymore, but I did go check out a first gen pathfinder.

https://sanantonio.craigslist.org/cto/d/nissan-pathfinder-suv/6363242225.html

Only serious problem it has was what sounds like a vacuum leak and the CEL was on. No ticking noise, that’s associated with the broken exhaust manifold studs that’s apparently a problem on these.

It’s definitely in the work truck/beater category. But it would be fine for me. My only real concern with it is that it probably gets shit gas mileage.

I gave my beloved Pia (yup, that’s her name) Kia Picanto a wash. And I ordered a set of these for her since her high beams are somewhat shite.

I got a quart of that very same oil for the Prelude. When I was at the auto parts store there was an 07-08 Civic Si sedan that had serious paint fade and had “for sale $3500” on the back window. I had to stop myself from asking who owned it.

Cheapster got a full tank of gas and a new gas cap. 17 mpg isn’t bad for a 23 year old Cherokee with 253k miles.

Sounds like the starting point for an SCCA ITR car.... Actually don’t. I would never build another FWD race car, as tire costs will eat you alive.

Just drove it around and experienced how different the tiny 16 inch winter wheels make the car feel when compared to the 18 inch run flat summers.

Actually didnt get to do all that much on the car, but my wrenching buddies and me are moving into a new shop, so were prepping it all week. Next weekend we can hopefully start coating the floor and move our stuff in the weekend after. Excited!!

It’s a Prelude, but yeah, the most I would do with either of my Preludes is autocross.

Yeah. I’m considering picking one up after I pay the TSX off, and resto-modding it into a Type R clone, but I already have too many projects going on right now.

Put a new battery on the Forester. It didn’t strand me but it was starting to crank weakly. First replacement since new. Battery had a date of June 2013 but car was made in November. So it made it just shy of 4 years and just over 60k miles. Not bad. Subaru battery tie downs are a surprising pain in the ass to deal with. One of the two rods that hold the strap fell down under the motor on the plastic underbody tray and I had to fish it out with a magnet. Turned a two minute task into a 10 minute one.

Tried to translate the parts diagrams for the cooling system hoses in my VW Transporter into reality so I can order some new hoses cause the original ones are a bit soft after 15 years.

Then I replaced the rubber damper rings on both front upper shock mounts because the ones that were in it were toast...

Took it for a (shitty automatic) wash. Installed dash cam and ran cables for dash cam and phone mount to keep them hidden and out of the way. Still plugged into the cigarette lighter though, need to figure out how to do a fuse tap to hide that.

Received a $15 block heater cable for the Cummins. Dealer wanted $120 for part and install.

All Cummins come with the heater, but you either have to buy the ‘cold weather prep’... haha not in Texas, or the part. Will make it nice on the few cold nights and with it already hitting 35 in Austin.... it should be nice a few mornings.

Plus, yes I know... bad me, I can troll the EV parking.

I just got whatever AutoZone’s house brand is in “Gold” for the warranty because heat can kill batteries here. I was only home for 36 hours before needing to leave my car at the airport parking lot for another week so I wasn’t about to shop around. I didn’t check who makes them for AutoZone, but it definitely cranks better than I ever remember the OEM battery doing. FWIW, Subaru OEM batteries are made by Panasonic. Several Japanese-made cars use them (Toyota comes to mind) and they are supposedly pretty decent.

No, the Panasonic ones are too weak from the factory. When they get replaced here in the states by a dealer it is with an Interstate Battery with slightly better CCA and such.
